Demonstrators Protest Ringling Bros. Circus Cruelty
Over 80 demonstrators joined the Indiana Animal Rights Alliance Thursday evening to protest opening night of the Ringling Bros. Circus. Because of dedicated protesters, elephants have been spared the daily abuse required in circus training and performances. Unfortunately, other animals are still performing, including wild animals like tigers and lions.
It takes years of negative reinforcement training, such as domination and abusive behavior, to keep wild animals “in their place”. The animals also endure months of confinement as they travel in small crates from city to city.
In addition, the USDA fined Ringling Bros. $270,000 for multiple animal abuse violations. This was the largest fine in US history for animal abuse. For more on Ringling, please visit www.ringlingbeatsanimals.c
