On Thursday, Dec 3rd, 150 concerned Hoosiers joined the Indiana Animal Rights Alliance’s stance against animal abuse at the opening night of Ringling Bros. circus. The demonstrators met outside Bankers Life Fieldhouse and peacefully held signs to educate circus attendees about the cruelty involved in training animals to perform in circus events.
Although Ringling Bros. recently announced plans to retire their elephants in three years, animal welfare proponents argue for the immediate retirement of all circus animals. Ringling Bros. has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for animal welfare violations. As long as Ringling Bros. uses animals in their performance, the Indiana Animal Right Alliance and concerned Hoosiers will peacefully protest their circus in Indianapolis.
IARA protested each Ringling Bros. show throughout the weekend. View photos below and follow us on Facebook.
