Chick-fil-A is holding their annual “Cow Appreciation Day” today, an absurd event where they pretend to “appreciate” cows while being responsible for the mutilation, torture and slaughter of millions of chickens each year.
Chick-fil-A suggests that cows have feelings and care whether they are mistreated and slaughtered, but they ignore the fact that chickens do as well. This is the definition of cognitive dissonance, and it is appalling that it is carried out by a nationwide corporation. Here is some undercover footage of a Chick-fil-A supplier abusing birds:
Much of what is seen in the video is standard industry practice. In addition, babies who happen to be born male are thrown alive into a grinder and chopped up or suffocated because their lives are worthless to the industry. Birds have their sensitive beaks seared off without painkillers.
They live with untreated sickness and injury, and are forced to stand in their own excrement. They never see sunlight or get to breathe fresh air. During slaughter they are hoisted up sustaining broken legs and their throats are cut. Many of them are still alive when they are dumped into scalding hot water.
Chickens are smart and sensitive, and love to be petted and sit in your lap similar to dogs, yet any one of these things would be illegal if done to dogs.
Chick-fil-A not only carries out this cruelty, it mocks their suffering and deaths with silly stunts like Cow Appreciation Day.
The Indiana Animal Rights Alliance will be protesting on behalf of these innocent lives and encouraging people to help end this violence by considering plant based alternatives that are cruelty free, delicious and healthy.
The details of the protest can be found on Facebook.
