Do these 7 things NOW if you are a new vegan in Indianapolis!
Are you a new or aspiring vegan living near Indianapolis? Especially if you don’t know others making the change, it can be intimidating at first. Thankfully, being vegan in Indy is easier than ever! This is a list of some practical resources to help get you started.
1. Attend a Meetup with the Indy Veggie Meetup Group!
One of the best things you can do when you are new at this is getting to know others on the same path. The Indy Veggie Meetup Group (Sponsored and run by IARA!) hosts nearly 100 get-togethers every year. Meeting other vegans, vegetarians and those aspiring to go veg can be a great lifeline of support. There are always new people at every event so you don’t have to worry about being an outsider. Events are fun and casual and a great way to discuss topics that are important to you with others who understand.
The group meets at restaurants, holds pitch-ins/potlucks, screens movies, hosts special events like Vegan Thanksgiving celebrations and Kids’ Halloween parties, picnics and hosts speakers. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the local vegan community.

2. Join local vegans on Facebook
The Indy Veggie Meetup Group has a corresponding group page on Facebook that is a great way to discuss local topics and ask questions geared more toward Indianapolis based discussions. The group has become the largest online community of vegans, vegetarians and veg-curious in Indiana.
